Design Your Own Solar System
My solar system's name is World Storm. In World Storm, there are six planets and one big red sun. The moon is blue and the three of the planets are red, purple, and pink. The other three planets are brown, green, and blue.
My galaxy has four planets and one sun. There is only one planet that has real life forms, which is the green planet named "Klanzsh". You probably noticed that there isn't any water, but it is all underground. Stuff that lives there pumps it out. This galaxy has one sun and one meteorite named "Coblaze". When the meteorite comes by, it shoots out rainbows from the back of it for some odd reason. There is one white planet on the left far in the distance. It is by the planet with the flaming ring.
My solar system is called "Star Stream". I have one sun and seven planets. Some of their names are "Snake", "Oie", "Plutu", and "Zeves".
This is my solar system. I have ten planets and a bright orange sun. My solar system is named "Space". There are some shooting stars in my solar system. My planets all move around the sun within about one year.
Students learned all about the planets in our solar system. They also learned that there are other undiscovered solar systems somewhere out in the universe. For their projects, students created their very own solar system, letting their imaginations dictate what was included. This projects introduced the art elements of texture, value, unity and space.
Texture Landscape Design
by Kristin Riley
by Madison Spotts
by Selby Beauchaine
by Jacob Sturgis
by Ashlynn Dwelley
by Alexis Walther
Students learned all about landscapes and how land in different parts of the world look different. They also learned how the colors of the land may look different at various times of day. Students also observed the effect of texture within images. The project was to create and draw a unique landscape where students could choose what part of the world they wanted to work with. Students used texture sheets and crayon for their whole image. Then, learned how to apply watercolor resist using a watercolor wash on top of the crayon. This intensified the textured effect.
Can you take a guess at which part of the world each
student's landscape my be located?
Upper Michigan Silhouette Stories
By Logan Whitehead
By Hunter McLachlan
by Mitchell Schieding
by Elliot Barrow
Students learned about an female African-American artist, Kara Walker, who sis famous for her silhouette works. Walker's silhouette images tell stories from Southern folklore. For their projects, students were able to tell their own stories about an activity they enjoy doing in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan. Students were taught how to create a sunset or sunrise gradient using water colors. Their story scene was drawn with pencil on black paper and then cut and glued to the background.
Snowmen Snowglobes
by Ashley Trisch
by Donald Atherton
by Mira Miller
Students observed the effect the sun has on snow in the winter time. There are bright white highlights where the sun hits directly. There are also muted, blue shadows behind objects, where the sun can't reach. Students made snow globes to welcome our first snow of the season. The highlights and shading were used on the snowmen. Students were free to add any other wintertime details of their choice.
