Welcome to kindergarten art online!

Please feel free to browse what our class has done and look through our online art gallery!

Leaves

In art class, the Kindergarteners learned how the leaves on our trees change from season to season. We read Leaves by David Ezra Stein; a story about a baby bear discovering what happens to leaves our leaves in the fall, winter, spring, and summer. Students learned the technique of watercolor painting to illustrate the leaves of all four seasons. Students also practiced using glue sticks to complete their projects.

Opposites & Symmetry

Students learned about the word "symmetrical" where some things on one side are the same as another. Students were able to practice their skills with scissors and glue while trying to make symmetrical designs with opposite colors.

Crazy Chameleons

The kinders were read the story "Mixed Up Chameleon" by Eric Carle. Students discovered why chameleons change colors. Students also discovered that these reptiles have bumpy skin. Using legos to stamp paint, students made their own "textured" chameleon skin. The kinders practiced using stencils, tracing, cutting, and gluing to create their chameleons. Extra details were up to each students and were added with marker.

Spooky Halloween Paintings

The kinders learned how to paint with their mouths to create spooky halloween paintings. Using a straw, students blew black paint onto colored paper. Then, students were asked what kind of halloween images they could find in their paintings. After deciding what their painting was about, they blew even more black paint on it.

Letters and Shapes

Students practiced identifying various geometric shapes.  Students practiced drawing these shapes and used scissors to cut them out of the colored paper. The first letter of each student's name was used as a background and the shapes were pasted on to form a letter-shape collage.
